I love the Santa Monica pier! It was one of the first places I went after moving to SoCal, and since then, I’ve gone countless times. There’s just something special about it–it feels so SoCal. I love feeling the wind whipping through my hair and the smell of sand and salt water; the vendors selling their wares, the aspiring musicians capturing our attention with their budding talent. So when Ooh La La Catering asked us to help with design for their catering services at a holiday party at the pier, we jumped at the opportunity!
The client took care of much of their own decor for the event–like the cedar garland centerpieces on the tables and the Airstream camper (I feel like almost every party needs an Airstream). Our job was to work along side the Ooh La La catering team to make their food tables beautiful. And with the help from Thread and Sow on florals and All She Wrote on signs, I think we did just that. Stunning Menu Boards enticed hungry party-goers with the promise of delicious food. Beautiful red and white floral arrangements accented the food table, while cedar and eucalyptus greens, peppered with bright red berries, framed the chafing pans. Finally, besides that super-cool Airstream, my favorite part of this event was the carving station. Chef Kyndra wanted it to be visually striking and we did our best to deliver. From the absolutely gorgeous floral garland, to the cascading bread rolls, to the hand-lettered sign, it was a visual feast for the eyes.
